Flurries and Funnies

We got our first little bit of snow this week.  Barely enough to tromp around in but the kids insisted on suiting up and going out.  

 Running down the hill is even more fun in the snow.

 This little girl always grabs the spoon from me and likes to stick it out of her mouth like this.

And Shane always makes me laugh.  A couple of the most recent funnies:

Shane: Daddy, be careful, those are scissors!!
Josh: I know bud I'm cutting something.
Shane: But Daddy that's the same hand as your hurt finger!

Last night as I was tucking him in he was really tired and was being super dramatic.  Somehow we got on the topic of him bringing snack to preschool on his birthday.  He said, "I'm worried if McKenna will like my snack."  I told him I thought he wanted to bring zoo animal crackers and she would probably like those.  "But if McKenna doesn't eat my snack my birthday will be RUINED!!!"  (I think somebody has a crush!)

What Would I Do Without Them?

Sometimes I have a little trouble keeping it all together.  Lucky for me my kids have my back.

Shane is good at reminding me about little things.  Like "Mom, do you have your backpack?"  (because I forgot it one time at the zoo park and we had to walk all the way back there to get it.)  

One day I was driving to a friend's house and couldn't remember exactly where it was.  When I started going down a dirt path I realized I had gone the wrong way and had to call her and figure it out.  The next time we went back he said, "Mom, remember to NOT go down that dirt road!"  

Sadly he's not the only one who needs to keep tabs on me.  

On Saturday I took the girls to Kroger and found a coveted "car cart" in the cart corral so I parked next to it and put Marissa in.  She was so excited, and then I realized I had left my wallet at home (hey, at least I realized it before I started shopping!) and I had to pull her out and tell her we had to go back home because I forgot my wallet.  The poor girl was devastated.

Flash forward to today when I dropped Shane off at school and told Marissa we were gonna stop at Kroger.  She said, "Mom, do you have your wallet?  And I realized at that moment that I actually didn't. Thank goodness I have my kids to keep me in line!  And cute Sadie, because it is hard to get too frustrated with yourself when you have chubby cheeks like these to kiss on.

Happy Halloween!

We stretched out the holiday with a few different celebrations this year (gotta make the most of those costumes!).  Our first celebration was "St. Anne's Spooktacular" where we trick or treated to the residents in a nursing home.  

 It was great cause it was inside and I think the residents really enjoyed seeing the kids.

 Marissa got her first piece of candy and clutched it tightly in her hand inside the bucket.

 Sadie loves her daddy!  This is the puppy costume Marissa wore 2 years ago, and Marissa is wearing the monkey Shane wore 2 years ago.

We also went to the trunk or treat at our church.  Carter wanted to hop in our picture, and I love how he is smiling and looking at me so perfectly and none of my children are ha ha.

 On Halloween day my moms group threw a Halloween party at the library and it was a lot of fun!  Here the kids are waiting for the pinata, do you think they were excited?

 Sadie slept through the whole thing which made it a lot easier to keep tabs on the other two!

 That night we dressed up and went to Chipotle for $3 meals.  Josh was a pirate and I was a killer whale, no picture of that necessary:)

 Chipotle is at the outdoor mall here and they had trick or treating there so we went by a few stores before we went home.  The kids loved these comic books the comic book store gave out.

 It was raining at this point, so we dried off a little in the car on the way home and the big kids went with daddy to a few houses in the neighborhood and called it a night.  We definitely already had more than enough candy!
