Weekend O' Fun

So, this weekend was pretty much fabulous because it was basically like I had two weekends. I got Thursday and Friday off for Fall Break, so I spent those days catching up on some school stuff and just generally being lazy. Then I felt like I got second weekend when my best friend Christie and her friend Amanda flew in from California to spend a couple days with us on their way to Idaho. It was so fun having them here, getting to show off Provo in all its glory, and just laughing a lot like old times. Somehow the only pictures I took were of us hiking, but oh well.
She's quite animated and pretty entertaining!
A good belly shot for those who've been asking. I don't always want to put these up because I feel like they make me look huge!
So many pretty spots on the hike to stop at

Stewart Falls. Josh was doubtful I could do this hike, but I showed him!

So who's coming next weekend?... Any takers?

Wasn't it just a few days ago that I turned off my air conditioning?

Well, it's pretty much time now to turn on the heater! It's been in the 80's for the past few weeks, then all the sudden yesterday morning I went for my walk and it was snowing! So we busted out the turtlenecks, gloves, and jackets for the football game yesterday. You won't hear any complaints from the pregnant lady, though, it feels pretty darn good to me! I guess that's one perk of being pregnant (at least in the cold months)- you have your own personal space heater.
Other than that things are pretty much status quo- I think Josh has had a test for every class in the past 3 days, and he's just hoping to hear about more interviews. I'm still feeling good, just bigger, starting to identify body parts, and looking forward to Fall Break this week.

Good News!

Josh got offered his first interview today!!! It's November 13th at the University of Vermont. We're just relieved that somebody liked what they saw so far, and that hopefully that means other schools are looking at him too.

Making Room For Shane

For the almost two years that we've lived in our place now, the extra bedroom has been a sort of depository for our junk: boxes, golf clubs, furniture we didn't have room for in our tiny front room, etc. The piles have gotten even bigger as we've started adding all our baby stuff to it. And I have not really felt the desire at all to "nest" or get that room ready for Shane.

Well on Friday we went to Ikea to purchase one of our last big baby items, a dresser. Josh is like a little kid with legos whenever we get anything that needs to be put together, so after the football game yesterday he went to work on it. In my usual nightly tradition I fell asleep on the couch around 9:30 or so, dead to the world until Josh handed me a toothbrush and told me to wake up (for those of my family who have ever tried in vain to wake me up, Josh has figured out that this is the only safe way to do it). He told me he wanted me to see the back room, and when I saw it I was surprised enough to really wake up. I wish I had a before picture so you could see what a mess it had been. In the hour or so I was asleep, he had finished the dresser, found places for all the things that had been cluttering the floors, and put all the baby clothes in the dresser. Even with all that organizing and putting away he managed to make space in the closet because I had said I would like to hang some things in there.

The room is so small I couldn't get in a good spot to take a great picture, but this gives you an idea. And yeah, the bicycle is still in there, but we really didn't want to put it outside. When I feel like nesting I guess I'll put a few decorations in there, but for now it just feels good to know there will actually be a spot for Shane when he comes. It's been sort of hard for me to actually feel like we really will be bringing home a baby in a few months, but as I sat down in the chair and looked out at the room, I had a little moment. I couldn't help but think that in a few months I'd be sitting in this chair quite often, but in the middle of the night to feed Shane. Though I'm a little bit scared for those moments and the lack of sleep, it was a good feeling and made me feel a little bit closer to the thing moving inside of me, and a little bit more ready to have him come. Not to mention grateful for Josh and all he does to make me happy.

The only thing that's changed much in the past week or so...

...is the size of my belly! I've got less than 3 months to go now, and am getting bigger by the week. I still keep waiting for pregnancy to get hard, but so far it hasn't really been! I'm sure I'll be singing a different tune soon enough. At school I am so busy that I don't really have time to stop and think about if I'm tired or anything. I don't even really think about it until I get home and he starts kicking away, and then I do have trouble getting comfortable. If anything I'm just more emotional. Josh is working hard and trying not to get too trunky his last semester.

This Week in Numbers

Nothing too exciting has happened this week, but I don't like to let too much time pass between posts, so here's a quick recap of the week from 0-8:

0- Cavities Josh and I had at the dentist yesterday. Woohoo!
1- Points BYU won by in the game yesterday. We're just relieved they won.
2- Number of times I fell asleep trying to watch movies. Shocker.
3- Nights in a row I cooked full-fledged meals (ie not just tacos). I don't know what got into me (yes, that is a lot for me), but I think next week it's back to baked potatoes!
4- Days Josh has had in school
5- Trips he made up and down the RB stairs on the first day of class. I think he burned off all that good home cooking!
6- Days until the UCLA game when our family comes to Provo!
7- Number of kids in my class I want to sit on. Just kidding, it's really only like 2. Okay, okay, I know I should love them all, I'm working on it!
8- Ounces of steak we both enjoyed at Outback for date night on Friday.

BYU Football!

I love this time of year! School still seems new and exciting, and there is an energy in the air with all the BYU students coming back to Provo. The weather starts cooling off (well, still waiting for that...), the leaves will be changing pretty soon, and of course, fall means football! BYU's first game was yesterday, and we had a blast. Our friends Dave and Laura came down from Salt Lake because they have season tickets, and Josh's sister Hannah came up from Ephraim with a few friends. We had better seats so we ditched them during the game, but we drove together and went to dinner afterwards. The game was pretty fun, minus the 3 fumbles and a few other times we had to turn our heads. Hopefully Bronco lays the smackdown and they'll shape up for next week. And our efforts to turn Shane into a BYU fan are already working, he was kicking away throughout the game.
