Marissa Rhae Dettinger

Born April 8th, 2011 at 10:42 pm.  8 lbs. 11 oz., 21.5" long.  Mommy and baby doing well, more details later.

Still Here...

Yes, my due date is still more than a week away, but I thought for awhile she might be coming early.

Ladies, don't be fooled by early dilation. 

So we're just wishing and waiting, and hoping she doesn't decide to make her entrance during one of Josh's big tests.

You better believe my butt's been on that treadmill every chance I get trying to help her along ha ha.

Remembering to enjoy every stage of this pregnancy and a (somewhat) good night's sleep while I still can.

Getting nervous for Shane who will probably wonder what the heck is going on when mom disappears for a day or two.

And more excited to hold this little girl and see what she will look like.  (And hoping that she is not getting enormous in there with each passing day!) 

Good Week

This week was heavenly.  The sun was out, the last bits of snow melted, and it was downright pleasant outside.  We made it to the park, did happy dances in the grass, and enjoyed not wearing jackets (except Shane, he's kind of attached to his...).  I can sort of see what Saginaw might look like in the spring/summer, and I think it is really going to be nice.    

Happy St. Patty's Day

St. Patrick's Day is almost upon us, and you know what that means around here- time for some cheesy limericks!

Kelly has started to waddle
She hopes that Marissa won't dawdle
Pregnancy's not always fun
But soon enough she'll be done
And have a cute little baby to swaddle

Josh is my number one man
And helps me however he can
Always fetching me stuff
While I sit on my duff
I know he's my number one fan

Shaners loves reading his books
And eats most of what his mom cooks
He's real stubborn but cute
We sure think he's a hoot
And hope sissy will get his good looks

Our Favorite Hangout

With it still being winter and all, we are very glad that we have a great children's museum here in Saginaw to go to.  We have passes so we can go whenever we want, and there are so many fun things for kids to do.

Yesterday the balls were the main attraction for Shane.  I think he must have laid in there for half an hour. 

Of course everything is more fun with your friends

And that goes for us moms too :) 

One More Month

My due date is April 5th, which means that I've got just about a month left to go.  I've definitely reached the point of feeling large and uncomfortable, and waking up every hour.  She has been quite an active little bugger still, which is getting more uncomfortable but is always a relief to know that she is fine.  I have been having some contractions, nothing big but I can tell my body is starting to do its thing. I went to the doctor today and am just a 1 and 50% effaced, which I guess is good considering how much time is left.  She did say the baby's head is very low.  Anyway, I am trying to enjoy this last little bit of time carrying her and feeling anxious and excited for her to come.   

Common Sights Around Here These Days

Probably my favorite one is this:

I will be doing the dishes or something and think "Uh oh it is really quiet, what is Shane doing?"  And 9 times out of 10 he has plopped himself in front of his bookshelf to read himself some books.  Melts my heart every time.  Of course, he also spends a lot of time doing this:

putting every toy he can possibly fit on the couch, that's where he likes to play with them.  And lately he doesn't want to get out of the bath, even after I let all the water out he likes to just lay down in the empty tub, weirdo. 

Josh has to dress up every day for school now, and I am loving it!

And I don't have any pictures of me, but if I did, it would probably be of me sacked out on the couch ha ha. The third trimester has caught up to me!
