Nothing too exciting going on here lately but I like to document the day-to-day stuff too, so here goes. A couple weeks ago we had some really unseasonably warm weather and had a lot of fun outside.
I had fun pulling out some of the summer clothes
And we walked to this little playground a couple blocks away from our house several afternoons. It has been fun to see the progress Shane has made since last summer!
Josh had grand plans for our yard and filled in most of the dead patches of grass with seed, and then the weather turned last week. But next week is looking on the up and up so we're hoping it grows.
Speaking of Josh, he has finished 3 weeks of his surgery core and is still alive! Just kidding (kind of). He got the luck of getting the attending surgeon who is notorious for ripping into students and eating them alive, but feels like he is incurring his wrath a little bit less every day, which has to mean something good right? He even gave him a compliment the other day (then said, "just don't let it get to your head!") He is learning a ton though and getting some good experience. His alarm goes off before 4 every day (including Saturday) to get to the hospital by 5 to round on patients and is on call at the hospital about one night a week but is usually home for dinner the rest of the nights at least. The kids soak up all the time they get with him and sure love their daddy.
He got a charcoal grill with some Christmas money and we busted it out for the first time today and had burgers outside for dinner
Along with a little baseball:)
And I ran a half marathon last Saturday with my friend Jamie. I've run a couple before and have always kind of had the goal of finishing under 2 hours but could never quite do it so I was super excited to finish this one in 1:58:23. It was perfect running weather and I realized that after doing most of my runs pushing 55+ pounds of kids in the stroller, it felt pretty good to run without that!

Probably good that Josh got a tough docter, he will be better able to deal with tough patients in the future.haha
That's a half a marathon you will run isn't it? VERY good for you!
I love when you post often and keep us updated. Thanks so much!!!
go kelly on your half!!!! my bucket list has one half marathon eventually. i need to officially sign up for a teeny 5k, then eventually a 10k, then a half. anyway I loved the post and hearing the recent stuff about josh's schooling. i can't imagine how rigorous that must be for him, and he still looks like he is such an involved dad. marissa is growing up too fast, i love her little hairdo and headband! yes we would LOOOVE to have you here, our kids could be bffs!!!
WAY TO GO, Kelly! That is fantastic! Finishing any race is an accomplishment, and your time is certainly one to be proud of! :)
The wee ones are cute as ever!
Good job on your half! I'm training to do one in a few weeks, but I don't think I'd be able to beat 2 hours! I think my best time is still Bryce Canyon half...
I've said it before, but I am going to say it again. Kelly Dettinger is the perfect woman.
Good job. You are an absolute beast. (I mean that as a good thing)
I was so glad to see your post from visiting California. I finally can put a face to that wonderful woman that has excellent taste in children's clothing, books, toys, air fare. . . the list goes on and on. Really though, it's become obvious where you get your good looks. Your mother is gorgeous!
Great job on your half-marathon! That is a goal of mine, too! I'm on surgery right now as well, and I have exactly 5 days left. From what I hear, surgery is really rough no matter where you have it. I think surgery is the reason I'm so behind on my blog and reading other people's blogs. I'm glad to hear Josh is surviving :)
Way to go on making your goal! That's awesome! It makes a huge difference when you don't have to push the stroller while jogging.
Congrats!!
